About the opportunity

Our Buildings & Infrastructure line of business has access to 10,000 professionals across the globe. Our team of engineers, designers and planners work to deliver projects in Transport Planning, Roads, Rail, Bridges, Project Management, Security Services, Building Structures & Services and Asset Management Planning.

Jacobs environmental scientists, engineers and technicians perform a variety of planning and environmental assessment work for our clients across multiple markets and industries.  Our Environmental Solutions & Technology offering brings together the technical thought leadership, innovative and end to end solutions approach to the operational business. Our environmental solutions services include Statutory and Strategic Planning and Land Use Approvals, Environmental Impact Assessment, Environmental Management and Compliance, Social Impact Assessment, Contaminated Land Assessment and Remediation, Ecology, Air Quality & Acoustics, Communications & Engagement, Landscape & Visual Impact Assessment, Cultural Heritage and Sustainability.

An opportunity exists within our Melbourne office, to lead, drive and grow the Jacobs’ water sector in the planning and environmental business in Victoria. This group incorporates the capabilities of:

  • Statutory and strategic land use planning and environmental assessments and approvals
  • Stakeholder engagement and communications
  • Landscape and visual impact assessment

Reporting to the Section Leader, the Principal / Lead Planner will be responsible for technical leadership and business development, as well as management of the section’s financial performance against department budgets in the water sector. The successful candidate will be an inspirational leader, with a proven track record in coaching and mentoring staff, and the ability to develop and manage significant opportunities across a broad range of the water sector.

About you

Key requirements for the position: -

  • Degree and/or postgraduate qualification in a relevant field of study such as environmental science or town planning
  • An interest in the water sector including the delivery of major projects and an understanding of applicable Commonwealth and Victorian legislations
  • Experience in Project Management tools
  • Proven track record in managing a team of people (as a project team leader and/or as a team manager)
  • Strong communication skills to articulate a clear direction for the section, with good social, networking and presentation skills
  • Proven track record in building client relationships and work winning
  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and delivery
